30 Day Challenge - Day 5: Your Dreams

The 30 Day Letter Challenge

WRITE A LETTER TO: Day 5 — Your dreams
Leigh Harline and Ned Washington wrote a well-known song that says, "If your heart is in your dream no request is too extreme."* My heart wants so badly to believe this, for you show me visions of happiness in a place where love has no guidelines or restrictions. You show me illusions of joy in a place where there are no rules and regulations. You show me fantasies of enchantment in a place where all love is loved and accepted. But then the sun rises, and alarm sounds, and reality's happiness, joy, and enchantment pull you from my desiring embrace.

When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires will come true.

Pinocchio wished upon a star with all his heart and his dream to be real came real. Well, Dream, I don't believe in wishes, and I certainly don't believe in human ability to make inanimate object because "real." But I do believe that if I trust in the Lord and do good  (Psalm 37:3), and also delight myself in Him, He will give me the desires of my heart (v.4). So, Dream, you and your false sense of hope can kick rocks barefoot. But thanks for the fun and fantasy :)

30 Day Challenge - Day 4: Your Sibling

The 30 Day Letter Challenge

WRITE A LETTER TO THESE PEOPLE : Day 4 — Your sibling (or closest relative)
Dear little girl.
I am proud of you:
  • for being unapologetically Christian
  • for your hard work and improvement in school
  • for your ability to make independent (sometimes rebellious) decisions
  • for taking the initiative to lead

I have seen you grow into a lovely young lady. You are always surprising me, and making me proud, with your developing maturity, but you will always be my little sister.
Love, Stank.

98. Buy make-up

See my 101 in 1001.

A lot of girls get excited about reaching age 16 and being able to wear make-up. I guess that age varies from household to household now that I think of it, because I went on my first date at age 15, and I'm sure I wore make-up. But anyway, I was never excited about make-up. I mean...I never tried to sneak and wear it in school like Vanessa on the Cosby Show. I pretty much only wore it maybe to church, and of course prom night. It wasn't until about age 25 that i really got into the make-up game, and I must say, it's quite enjoyable. I love the fact that it allows you to be creative with your appearance, creative with your representation of self. But while some people NEED make-up and won't (probably shouldn't) leave home with out it, I'm thankful to God that I acknowledge make-up as a supplementary beauty accessory, and not an enhancement beauty necessity.

Anyway, I bought some make up yall.

Task complete!

30 Day Challenge - Day 3: Your Parents

The 30 Day Letter Challenge

WRITE A LETTER TO THESE PEOPLE : Day 3 — Your parents
Hey Ma. Hey Dad :)
I don't know when or how you did it, but somewhere in your parenting, you taught me to have the utmost trust in you. I always trusted your decisions, even when I didn't follow them. I trusted you so much that many of the decisions I made where based on decisions I though you wanted me to make. Then, as I matured, I realized that not only did I trust you, but I also trusted your parenting, and trusted the fact that you raised me to make my on decisions, instilling in me the need to make GOD decisions, for nothing GOoD can happen without GOD being involved.
So, Mom and Dad, this is my thank you for being such GOoD parents. Even when you don't agree with my decisions, trust that you raised me well enough to be prepared for whatever benefits/consequences come as a result.
Love you both with all the muches :)

93. Get to work by 8 every morning for a week

If you don't understand this post, see my 101 in 1001.

This summer, before I was fully staffed, I had to open every morning at 7:30. Lord knows I don't wanna ever have to do that again, but it is what it is ;)

Task complete!

11. Give away at least 10 pair of shoes

If you don't understand this post, see my 101 in 1001.

So I cleaned out my closet a couple months ago and fill a storage tote with shoes that I no longer wear (some of them I may have never wore) and I gave em away. Last time I counted, my shoe count was up to about 80. IDK how many pair I gave away, but since then, I've gotten more new shoes. God is GOoD.

Task complete!

30 Day Challenge - Day 2: Your Crush

The 30 Day Letter Challenge

WRITE A LETTER TO THESE PEOPLE : Day 2 — Your Crush
Crushes seem so adolescent, but there's something about you that makes me feel like a school girl all over again. When I think of you, I smile uncontrollably, and the anticipation of seeing you still gives me butterflies after so much time. I imagine what it'd be like to have your last name. I dream about life with you, where ever it may lead. In my mind, you sweep me off my feet and we live happily ever after. In reality, I guess it's merely a fairy tale.
